My Holiday In Taupo

I packed my bag for the long trip to Taupo. I couldn't wait till I got there. I went there because my dad was working there, so we went over to Taupo to visit him. Yay, we finally got there.  First, we stopped at the police station to tell my dad that we had arrived.   We asked him where the hotel was. Then we went to the hotel and  got settled in.

Athletics Day

When I was nine years old, our school had an Athletics Day. We all competed in lots of events, like High Jump, Long Jump, Vortex, Shot Put, Discus and Sprints.
After Discus, I ran to Vortex. A vortex is shaped liked a rocket. You can get them in different colours, like blue, red, green and yellow .The area had lots of brown sticks 1 metre apart. Mrs Readman wrote our names down in order then we sat down in our order. We each had three throws. Mine  bounced on 6.3 metres. It was as easy as ABC. I got a big shock in my arm. The vortex had a noisy whistle. Cameron had a far throw. His bounced on 40.2 metres. He did very well he came first.
After everyone had had their turn in vortex, we ran to long jump. In long Jump, there is a  mat and we had to jump from the end of the mat or that jump wouldn't count. The mat was blue, orango, red and green. The area at long jump had a sand pit with a mat. I slipped on 2 metres and 30cm. I leapt like a  tiger. The sand was as sandy as a beach. When I leapt into the sand, the sand fell on top of my feet. I came first. I jumped for joy.

I finished Shot Put. I walked slowly to sprints, then we had to walk back up to the start of the race. Mr Emms put us in to groups of six.The area at sprints had long grassy lanes that were as skinny as a snake. There was a huddle of children and adults. I was in the first race. Bang! went the noisy gun. I got a big fright, but  I still ran as fast as a cheetah. Click! Click! went the cameras. We had six races. I came first in four of them and came second in two.
Next, we had our house relays. St Joseph came first, St Francis came second, St Anthony came third and St Anne came last. It was a fun day, but I was very tired when I got home from school that afternoon.
